Stewardship Opportunities

Volunteer at Camp

You can give back to Camp in many ways. This includes donating your time, talents, and energy to improving the Camp for others. Presbyterian Camps offers many options and ways to volunteer.

If you'd like to offer the gift of your time and talents in either program or facilities work, applications are available through the Camp Office. In 2008 Ted and Dottie Shaw celebrated their 22nd summer as camp volunteers. They set the standard for Christian service.

All volunteers who work with youth will have reference and criminal background checks, as well as participate in our child protection training.

Here is a list of a few options and ways to volunteer:

Participate in special organized events such as Memorial Day Work Weekend, or the Golf Outing! Find out more details by visiting our Special Events page.

Spend time with us during our summer season! We need help throughout the summer in many areas including: counseling/program areas, Camp canteen (store), Camp business office, kitchen, housekeeping, etc. We welcome volunteers for however much time they can give one week?...one month?...the entire summer?! Please contact us to explore options and to arrange an interview about when you can come. We always have plenty of work to do! (Note: Reference checks and background checks are performed on all applying volunteers and could impact the volunteer's ability to participate. The Director has the right to deny any volunteer permission to work.)

  • Work Groups Welcomed and Encouraged! We are blessed when work groups come to Camp to help improve our facilities. Senior High Groups, Men's Groups, Women's Groups, etc, can donate time and funds for construction projects, sewing projects, grounds keeping projects, painting projects, or even rebuild an entire cabin! Sponsor a project at Camp so our future generations can also enjoy this holy place! We will work with you to plan your work event and help prepare your specific project based on your group's skills. We encourage groups to fund the project as part of the volunteer effort.
  • Become a Camp Representative in your church or assist the current Camp Representative. Camp Representatives are your churches personal liaison between Camp and the Congregation. Help get the word out about Presbyterian
    Camps!
  • Encourage the youth in your congregation to come to summer camp. Organize special retreats and events for your church's many groups. We are here to serve you!

Donations & Giving

Our ministry touches many lives because of friends who sustain our mission with their generous gifts.

Why should I give?

  • In gratitude to God for what you have received.
  • To experience the joy that comes through sharing.
  • To bless future generations with the opportunity to experience the love of God through Christian fellowship and nurture surrounded by the beauty of God's creation.

General Fund
The General Fund is the broadest category for giving. Gifts are used to address all facets of camp operation, including site management and improvement, program and leadership areas, and the development of a more inclusive community.

Program Endowment Fund
All contributions to the continuing Program Endowment Fund are retained as principal to ensure lasting support for future generations. The Endowment Fund income, or yield, shall be used exclusively for:
1.) Special needs and programs of the camp.
2.) Camp Outreach
3.) Other purposes designated by the donor and consistent with the mission of the camp.

Scholarship Fund
Summer camp can be a life-changing experience. The Presbyterian Camps Scholarship Fund makes camp possible for those who would otherwise be unable to attend due to financial circumstances. Scholarships are granted based on need and are available to all campers regardless of age, congregational affiliation, race, or gender.

Capital Improvement Fund
Contributions to the Capital Improvement Fund will be used for redevelopment of the physical site and buildings, some of which are 100 years old. Plans are developing to address issues of accessibility for persons of all ages and abilities, safety, and year-round program expansion. Rose II is near completion.

Can I give a Memorial Gift?
Yes...a gift to the Presbyterian Camps at Saugatuck is a wonderful way to honor the memory of a loved one. You can keep alive the memories of those who have blessed you and others. A memorial gift, directed to any of these special funds, is a way to continue their good works among generations to come.

How to make a special gift to Presbyterian Camps:

  • Offer a financial contribution
  • Give appreciated property
  • Give unneeded life insurance or stock
  • Make a bequest in your will or living trust
  • Donate a needed gift or item. Please contact us for a list of needed items.
  • Encourage your Church to donate to Bucks for Saugatuck or give a gift

Bucks for Saugatuck
Bucks for Saugatuck is a way for churches to give to camp. Consider establishing a dollar amount per member of your church to donate each year.

How Can I Give?
Donations of all kinds are always appreciated no matter how large or small. Please give what you can when you can. The Camp counts on donor support each year to keep our ministry operating.

The most efficient way to give is to give online.  Donations will automatically be charged to your account and will be quickly received by Presbyterian Camps.

Checks should be made out to Presbyterian Camps. Please designate to which fund you wish to direct your gift. Undesignated gifts are gratefully received into the Presbyterian Camps General Fund.
